Couples
Therapy

I operate couples therapy sessions in a very similar way to Individual Therapy. I dive into personal histories to understand how each person comes into the relationship, and why they may be responding to a partner in a particular way.

I utilize the Gottman Method for couples therapy. This modality focuses on the hidden conflicts behind arguments. You're not really arguing about the dishes; you're arguing about not feeling appreciated, heard, or seen. By addressing these deeper issues instead of the therapist just mediating and refereeing, you'll learn how to navigate future conflict

(because in all relationships, conflict is inevitable). Skills for hearing each other, communicating more clearly, and building the friendship at the heart of your relationship will help you rebuild stronger than before.

Couples therapy can be for people not in a typical romantic relationship, too. Couples therapy can also be used to help navigate co-parenting after a divorce, or through the break up process as a way of having a "good goodbye."

I am a LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist.
